Work is now well underway on Dorenell Wind Farm on the Glenfiddich Estate near Dufftown in Moray.
Planning permission was granted in December 2011 for a 59 turbine wind farm of up to 177MW.
EDF Renewables (EDFR) is one of the UK’s leading renewable energy companies which develops, builds and operates generation projects with a focus on onshore and offshore wind as well as battery storage technology. EDFR operates 34 wind farms across the UK.
As part of the wind farm project a community benefit fund worth more than £8m over the life of the wind farm is being established. As well as this a range of improvements are being made locally to help regenerate the Cabrach area and strengthen tourism.
Paths will be upgraded and access extended with new and improved signage. Three new car parks and trail heads will make it easier to visit the area and both a warden and ranger post will be created.
The first steps have been taken to renovate some properties within the Cabrach. Once complete the properties will provide affordable homes for rent.
EDFR acquired the wind farm project from Infinergy in November 2015.
